Sharp to Offer Copiers under HP Brand Name

As revealed by Midway, Kentucky-based research group Photizo, a report from Reuter’s out of Japan indicates that Sharp Corporation may complete a deal to make copiers under the HP brand. Some industrysources say Sharp’s supply of copiers to HP could begin in the second half of its fiscal year ending in March 2014. Photizo believes the partnership is significant for both parties and will have a “remarkable” impact on these two market players.

In the past, Sharp had engaged in an alliance with Samsung. Regarding the partnership between HP and Sharp, Photizocommented that HP will certainly change Sharp’s fortunes in a positive direction”. However, this partnership might affect the engine supplying pact between HP and Canon.  Market analysts at Photizo observed that results from HP’s previous partnerships with Canon and Konica Minolta to tackle the copier market were not satisfying. Thus, they question how this partnership differs from previous ones and why it might work.

Indian Architect Invents a Deprinter

According to The Times of India, architect Swarnashil Moon has designed a deprinter.

As was revealed by Moon, he noticed the huge amount of stationery wasted in offices and then studied the properties of chemicals and dyes used in printers as part of his post-graduation project. Moon surveyed 10 offices, including those of “professionals like engineers, doctors, accountants, lawyers and architects as well as government offices.” He discovered that there was a lack of time to make justifiable use of paper by any available means. Moon explained, “There were several failed attempts to begin with, including the use of wax to wipe the writing off the paper, and ink that would fade over a matter of hours. But these could not be used in all situations as some paperwork needed to be stored as well.”

In the process designed by Moon, chemicalsolvents—like nitrobenzene, naphtha (mineral spirits) and petrol (gasoline)—are used in a device shaped like a printer to remove the toned image. The device is fed printed papers which it brushes with the chemical solvent. In the next step, some images can be removed with nitrobenzene while printing inks can be removed by naphtha or gasoline. A laser beam is then scanned across the deprinted paper. The cleaned paper can be used multiple times depending on its thickness.

Business-Inform on RemaxAsia Expo 2013

During October 17-19, 2013 in Zhuhai (China) two international expos, namely RemaxAsia Expo 2013 and iPrint Expo 2013 took place. The organizer was Recycling Times Media Corporation (China). There were 432 exhibitor companies from different countries. According to the organizers, during 3 days, the event was visited by 11200 guests and 2788 people working at the booths.

Okt. 28, 2013 – MOSCOW, Russian Federation. - Russian Information Agency « Business-Inform» was there for the second time already, this time with its own booth in the main expo pavilion. The aim was to demonstrate to Chinese companies’ representatives Agency’s products (catalogs, electronic tables, databases, marketing research results), as well as  Business-Inform 2014 EXPO (International Exhibition of the Office Equipment, Printing Supplies and Parts) and Business-Inform Informational Project in its whole (booth C721). During the event Russian specialists were actively supported by their Chinese partner, ABColor (booth C720). According to Chinese exhibitors, Information Agency « Business-Inform » presentation was quite successful. Visitors of C720/C721 booths meticulously studied and evaluated Agency’s products, the Russian Exhibition and Business-Inform Informational Project structure, learned the main results and report schedules of 2012 and 2013 exhibitions, expressed interest in participation in Business-Inform 2014 EXPO (Moscow, May 20-22, 2014).

Three reports concerning the specifics of the Russian printing equipment, supplies and parts market made by General Director of  Information Agency « Business-Inform » Dr. Malinskiy Stanislav attracted vast interest of the visitors. The first report, “Threats and Opportunities on the Russian Market” was presented on the conference organized by Recycling Times Magazine (China) on October 16 inthe conference hall of Holiday Inn Zhuhai Hotel. 200 specialists from more than 80 countries, who took part in this event, highly appreciated the report, which demonstrated negative consequences of shipping low-quality newly made compatible cartridges to Russia. However the speaker noted that this kind of shipping is fully legal in Russia, since OEM-patents for inventions made by original manufacturers for use in laser cartridges are not registered in Russia (unlike US and Western Europe countries).

The second and the third reports were presented by Dr. Malinskiy on October 18 and 19 within the framework of RemaxAsia Expo 2013 seminar program. “Russian Market of Printing Devices in 2004-2013”contained basic statistical data concerning the volumes of printing equipment and supplies sales on the Russian market during 2004-2013. It thoroughly explained main tendencies and contained forecast of the Russian market development for 2014-2017. The speaker expressed a special concern while presenting the listeners with statistics of Russian customers’ dissatisfaction with the low quality of newly made laser cartridges. He explained the reasons for this dissatisfaction and its possible influence on the Russian market dynamics in 2014-2017. Inthe final part of the report Dr. Malinskiy invited everyone present to participate or simply visit Business-Inform 2014 International Exhibition that will be held in Moscow during May 20-22, 2014 at All-Russia Exhibition Center (http://sforp.ru/BI2014eng/floormap.htm).

“Promotion of Chinese Goods on the Russian Market: New Opportunities in Current Conditions”, presented by Information Agency « Business-Inform »on RemaxAsia Expo 2013, was dedicated to the analysis of the most common mistakes that Chinese suppliers make while presenting and promoting their products in Russia. The speaker, Dr. Malinskiy didn’t only present listeners with the most common mistakes made by Chinese suppliers, but also outlined the correct solutions for informational support of the Chinese product presentation in Russiausing Business-Inform Informational Project capabilities.

During organizing and presenting of the reports during RemaxAsia Expo 2013 Dr. Malinskiy received help from Mr. Zubkov Sergei (Director of Umacs, Russia) and Ms. Qian Ying (Director of ABColor, China), whose highly professional translation of the reports into Chinese provided a possibility of a dialog with the listeners, who represented Chinese printing supplies producing companies.

On the whole, Russian specialists from Information Agency « Business-Inform » returned home with highly positive impressions concerning RemaxAsia Expo 2013 and iPrint Expo 2013 activity in Zhuhai. New numerous contacts were established with Chinese, Korean, German, Japanese, American companies. Some of them already offered cooperation. The experience from participating in large international event will, of course, be quite useful for Russian specialists while organizing Business-Inform 2014 International Exhibition.
